A six-hour Introduction to Natural Dyeing workshop, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., held at Claudia’s home studio in Mere, Wiltshire.
Learn the alchemy and practical process of extracting colour from plants in this relaxed and informative workshop. You’ll explore both the science and artistry of natural dyeing — from traditional dye-stuffs to kitchen and foraged ingredients.

What to Expect
This workshop introduces the fundamental principles and practical steps of natural dyeing using both traditional and foraged materials.
You’ll explore:

How to prepare and mordant fibres for dyeing

Extracting colour from plants, kitchen waste and natural dye-stuffs

Creating and maintaining a dye bath

Overdyeing and an introduction to indigo
All learning is supported with clear written notes to take home, so you can continue experimenting with confidence.
Natural Dyeing Starter Kits will be available to purchase at the end of the workshop (£35), containing everything you need to begin dyeing at home.

About Your Tutor
Claudia is a natural dyer and retired teacher who has been professionally dyeing yarns for Elka Textiles for many years.
Her passion lies in both the science of the process and the joy of discovering the beautiful, unexpected colours that emerge from the dye pot.
