A Mindful Day of Making at Fisherton Mill
A day-long off-loom weaving workshop for beginners, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., set in the beautiful surroundings of Fisherton Mill in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Off-loom weaving is a wonderfully intuitive way to explore texture and form — no equipment required. In this workshop, nature provides your loom: branches, stones, or other found objects become the base for your weaving. It’s creative, grounding and easily portable — perfect for mindful making at home or outdoors.
Six hours of guided tuition with Ellie Fisher, an experienced weaver with over 20 years’ experience
Use of all tools and materials, including a wide selection of natural yarns and fibres
Clear printed handouts to take home
A 20 % discount on the Fisherton Mill Gallery Café lunch menu on the day of your workshop
Spaces are kept small to allow plenty of individual guidance. Suitable for complete beginners or anyone wanting to take their weaving beyond a conventional loom.
You’ll learn how to transform simple, found materials into beautiful woven pieces. We’ll cover:
Choosing yarns and fibres that work best for off-loom weaving
Turning branches, stones and other objects into unique looms
Techniques for rock and branch weaving
Finishing and securing your woven piece
Expect a relaxed, creative atmosphere and plenty of hands-on making.
Fisherton Mill has a wonderful café serving lunches, cakes and drinks, or you’re welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
All materials are provided, but if you have an interesting branch, stone or other object you’d like to weave onto, bring it along.
Please arrive in good time to park before the workshop begins.
Fisherton Mill doesn’t have on-site parking, but you’ll find full details here:
