Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving Workshop, Crawley, Hampshire
A day long frame weaving workshop for beginners between 10am - 4pm in the light filled, spacious setting of Crawley Village Hall in Hampshire.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
The course price includes 6 hours of guided tuition, use of the looms and all materials including yarns and a selection of fibres including organic cotton, bamboo, flax and hemp.
You will be given your own clear workshop handouts to take away with you.
Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need.
You will have the opportunity to buy your loom at the end of the workshop.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available all day.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The workshop will teach you the basic principles and terminology of weaving and you will create a small woven piece using a frame loom.
We will cover the following:
- How to pick the best yarns for weaving
- How to plan your warp (all the tension threads that are wound on to the loom before weaving begins)
- How to dress the loom (prepare the loom for weaving)
- Lots of weaving!
- How to secure your piece and remove it from the loom
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those that have a little experience and would like a refresher.
You will have the opportunity to buy your loom (£25) and other materials at the end of the workshop and you will find a comprehensive list of suppliers in the resources section of your handout.
WHAT TO BRING
You will be provided with all the materials you will need for the workshop however if you have any material at home that you would like to experiment with then please feel free to bring them along.
Please bring a packed lunch.
PARKING & ARRIVAL
Crawley Village Hall, Crawley, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 2PR
Please arrive in good time to ensure you have time to park before the workshop begins.
Reserved car parking is limited to four spaces indicated in an area opposite the main ramped entrance to the Hall and is on a first come, first served basis. There are also two car parking spaces available for the disabled immediately adjacent to the ramp. Parking is permitted on the main street but care must be taken not to block any entrances to residents’ drives. (No cars may be parked FOR ANY REASON on the access road to the Cottages located at the rear of the Hall. This restriction also applies to the parking areas and circulation space in front of the Cottages.
The workshop will take place in Wren Hall, located within the main village hall.
I like to start promptly as there is quite a lot to go through, but if you do find you are running late, please don't worry, once i've got everyone started off i'll be able to get you up to speed with the rest of the group fairly quickly.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Ellie Fisher is a textile designer with a foundation in textiles from Winchester School of Art and a BA and MA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
With over 20 years of weaving experience she is passionate about sharing her love of textiles.
